APNO SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
PURPOSE
To provide financial support to a student currently enrolled in a Graduate Program in Nursing leading to an Advanced Practice Role.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR CANDIDACY:
v Must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate level program in nursing leading to a Master’s degree OR a Post-Master’s certificate as an Advanced Practice Nurse OR have completed a Master’s degree or Post-Master’s certificate as an Advance Practice Nurse and be currently enrolled in a PhD in Nursing or DNP program.
v The program of study for the Masters or Post-Master certificate must be located within the state of Missouri.
v Student must have completed at least 12 hours of credit towards the Master’s degree or the Post-Masters Certificate.
v The program of study for the PhD in Nursing or DNP does not have to be located in the state of Missouri.
v Student enrolled in a program of study for a PhD in Nursing or a DNP must be a resident of Missouri.
v Student in a nursing program leading to a PhD in Nursing or DNP must have completed a Masters level advance practice program and currently be enrolled in a PhD in Nursing or DNP program.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
v Candidates should submit:
- For Master’s or Post Masters certificate program:
- Two letters of support: one from a current faculty member OR supervisor AND one from a person of your choice. Please use attached form.
- For PhD in Nursing or DNP program:
- Two letters of support from professional colleagues. Please use attached form.
- A biographical statement addressing: (1) how your experience as a nurse has prepared you foran Advanced Practice Role; (2) your short-term goals; (3) your long-term goals; (4) why you feel you should be considered for this scholarship. (Typed, double-spaced, not more than 250 words).
- Conformation of student status from the Dean/Director of the program. Please see attached form.
v Applications must be received by August 15, 2008 to be considered for the award.

AWARDING OF SCHOLARSHIP
v The Scholarship Committee of APNO shall review all applications and make a recommendation to the APNO Board for awarding of the scholarship. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to recommend scholarship awards to more than one applicant.
v The APNO Board shall determine the amount of each award based on monies available. Anticipated amount is $1,000.00.
v Scholarship recipients shall be notified by mail of the amount of the award. Recipients will be invited to attend an award ceremony sponsored by APNO.
v Scholarship payments are sent directly to the appropriate school and may be used for tuition, fees, student loans, books, travel expenses, fees incurred in the conduct of student research, projects, thesis, or other expenses deemed appropriate by the student and the educational advisor. Special circumstances will be considered if a circumstance indicates the award should go directly to the student.
v If the student fails to complete the semester for which the scholarship is awarded, the total amount of the scholarship shall be returned to APNO within 60 days of termination of school. The Dean/Director of the program shall be asked to notify APNO when a scholarship recipient withdraws from school.
